Tucked among the pines and cedars of the Sierras, Sugar Pine Cabin offers an idyllic retreat for any season. Situated in Sugar Pine, California, along Sonora Pass (Hwy 108), it's just minutes away from the historic gold rush towns of Sonora, Jamestown, and Columbia. Perched at 4,500 feet, it lies between Twain Harte and Mi Wuk Village. The stunning Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort are a brief drive away, with Yosemite National Park within reach for a day trip.

This spacious tri-level cabin nestles on a serene cul-de-sac. In the summer, guests can enjoy Sugar Pine Lake, a private haven merely a three-minute stroll from the cabin, featuring a child-friendly beach, diving platforms, and fishing spots, all within a secured and gated area accessible with a key.

Great attention has been paid to crafting a welcoming escape that caters to both adults and children. The expansive dining area serves as a hub for board games, crafts, or other diversions beyond meal times. The main floor, encompassing the dining, kitchen, and living areas, opens onto a large redwood deck furnished with picnic tables, offering views of the surrounding woods. The loft provides a secluded play space for kids, complete with a TV and DVD player. The lower-level game room is outfitted with classic arcade machines, an air hockey table, and even a claw machine, all set to free-play for endless entertainment.

I need your help! I'll be attending the Visit Tuolumne County (VTC) marketing meeting this month and I need some accurate information from those of you who keep record of your rentals. VTC currently focuses largely on out-of-state and out-of-country travelers while capitalizing on the popularity of Yosemite National Park. In my opinion, businesses paying the occupancy tax which fully fund VTC in addition to those who participate in advertising and partnership are better served by making two changes. The first is to focus marketing on Tuolumne County attractions and businesses other than Yosemite National Park, the second is to target the appropriate demographic.
Yosemite is known worldwide and is one of our most crowded national parks.  Heavily impacted by tourism, traffic and parking within Yosemite can be a nightmare.  Day-use reservations are often required well in advance of travel.  Lastly, almost every business within the park is located in another county.  This means sales tax benefits from sales of products benefits Mariposa County rather than Tuolumne.
Second, marketing needs to focus on the appropriate target demographic.  I have rented Sugar Pine Cabin to over 182 families in the last 4 years.  I recorded each city my guests originated from and came up with the following information:
5 families originated outside of CA but within the United States.  Those states were NV, AZ, NM, MD, and NH.  The remaining 177 rentals originated from 80 different California cities.  The cities that were the hometown to the largest number of my renters were, San Jose with 17 rentals, Modesto, with 14 rentals, San Francisco with 7, and Hollister, Merced, and Roseville with 6 each.
If you do keep records of where your guests originate from, please consider going through your data and provide me some numbers.  It doesn't matter how large or small the sample size is, I'd love to add some more data and provide VTC a larger data set.  All I need is a tally of rentals and the hometown for each renter.
I can provide you an excel sheet I started with my numbers redacted.  I have 80 cities listed and you can provide your data.  Send me a PM if you are able to participate and I'll email you the form.
